Blogging

Welcome to Twikinomics!

It was just recently that I redesigned my blog but obviously, it’s a work in progress.  I have now decided to rename it as Twikinomics, and the sub-title, “What we all do in the WWW” basically encapsulates the direction I wish to take this website, to basically talk and discuss about social media and the new community.

Every now and then I’ll be talking about random tech and geek stuff and maybe share some personal stories and experiences, all of which will reflect who I am and what I think as a member of the social web.  I don’t expect all of you to agree with me, we can certainly disagree on certain things but we don’t have to be disagreeable.  It’s amazing how, through the Internet, we can connect and collaborate in so many different ways, how we can share and discuss information, ideas and opinions and help and add to each others experiences and viewpoints.

Why Twikinomics? It’s obviously a play on words.  While reading the 2008 Expanded book Wikinomics by Don Tapscott and Anthony D. Williamson, I came to the conclusion that this book has to be updated every year because so much has changed in the 2 years that has passed since the first edition was published in 2006.  That year, Time just recognized You (and me), as the Person of the Year and the world has just started to grasp the concept of the Read-Write Web, that it’s a 2-way street now, an ongoing dialogue between users from anywhere connecting and collaborating via the various web services that empowers them to do so.

Fast forward to 2008, and social media continues to evolve.  With the release of the expanded edition, we see more services allowing us to connect, communicate and collaborate in so many different ways.  Now micro-blogging has become one of the preferred ways of getting in touch with someone or getting the latest news or info.  Twitter in’t mentioned yet in the book, and most likely by the time a new edition comes out discussing the trends that we’re doing today, some new service will offer us another means of social connectivity.  By adding the “T” in Wikinomics, I tweaked the name and made it something more adaptive to the ever-changing world of social media.

And speaking of ever-changing, I definitely expect my blog to evolve, not just design or layout but in the quality and quantity of posts as well.  This is the beauty of the social web, we learn as we go on.  So again, welcome!
