23 ADULT TRUTHS

1. Sometimes I'll look at my watch 3 consecutive times and still not know what time it is.

2. Nothing sucks more than that moment during an argument when you realize you're wrong.

3. I totally take back all those times I didn't want to nap when I was younger.

4. There is great need for a sarcasm font.

5. How the hell are you supposed to fold a fitted sheet?

6. Was learning cursive really necessary?

7. Map Quest really needs to start their directions on # 5. I'm pretty sure I know how to get out of my neighborhood.

8. Obituaries would be a lot more interesting if they told you how the person died.

9. I can't remember the last time I wasn't at least kind-of tired.

10. Bad decisions make good stories.

11. You never know when it will strike, but there comes a moment at work when you know that you just aren't going to do anything productive for the rest of the day..

12. Can we all just agree to ignore whatever comes after Blue Ray? I don't want to have to restart my collection…again.

13. I'm always slightly terrified when I exit out of Word and it asks me if I want to save any changes to my ten-page technical report that I swear I did not make any changes to.

14. I keep some people's phone numbers in my phone just so I know not to answer when they call.

15. I think the freezer deserves a light as well.

16. I disagree with Kay Jewelers. I would bet on any given Friday or Saturday night more kisses begin with Miller Light than Kay.

17. I wish Google Maps had an "Avoid Ghetto" routing option.

18. I have a hard time deciphering the fine line between boredom and hunger.

19. How many times is it appropriate to say "What?" before you just nod and smile because you still didn't hear or understand a word they said?

20. I love the sense of camaraderie when an entire line of cars team up to prevent a jerk from cutting in at the front. Stay strong, brothers and sisters!

21. Shirts get dirty. Underwear gets dirty. Pants? Pants never get dirty, and you can wear them forever.

22. Even under ideal conditions people have trouble locating their car keys in a pocket, finding their cell phone, and Pinning the Tail on the Donkey – but I'd bet everyone can find and push the snooze button from 3 feet away, in about 1.7 seconds, eyes closed, first time, every time.

23. The first testicular guard, the "Cup," was used in Hockey in 1874 and the first helmet was used in 1974. That means it only took 100 years for men to realize that their brain is also important.

Today the world says goodbye to Steve Jobs, a man who is without a doubt an innovator, a world-changer, a hero.

The social web has been abuzz the whole day with stories, quotes, videos and farewells from CEOs, entrepreneurs, bloggers and basically everyone that has been touched by this amazing man who brought simplicity, design and magic to technology.

You will definitely be missed Steve Jobs.

Interesting that this had to happen today. Now, what you said about how important it is to "stay hungry" and to "stay foolish" never felt truer.

I am joining the June 8 Blog Action Day to Save our Coral Reefs and Seas, and I believe every Filipino with a blog should do the same.

The Philippines as a country has been blessed with amazing natural resources such as stunning beaches, a very diverse marine life and spectacular reefs. Unfortunately, a lot of us have taken these for granted and worse, they have been exploited and plundered by both foreign and local groups.

If the news on how poachers have destroyed an “entire ‘reef complex’—almost twice as big as Manila—off the coast of Cotabato province” when they harvested more than 21,000 pieces of black coral and in the process killing 161 endangered turtles and other marine life is not an eye-opener for you, I don’t know what will.

How long has this happening? How come we only knew about this today? Who’s responsible for this? What can we do to prevent it from happening again?

I don’t know the answers to the first two questions but what I do know is that WE are ALL responsible for this and ALL of US can do something about it. NOW.

The protection and preservation of our coral reefs and seas for future generations begins now and we all can have a part to make this happen.

June 8 has been declared Blog Action Day to Save our Coral Reefs and Seas. The least we can do is to join this collective effort and use our voices, online and offline, to spread the word about the plunder of our seas and we all can do to stop it. You can find out more information by visiting the Save The Philippine Seas site, following it on Twitter and liking the fanpage on Facebook.

I’ve also posted the following on Yahoo! to help spread the cause…

YAHOO ANSWERS

Share your ideas on what we can do to save our seas by answering this question:

FLICKR

Check out these photos of underwater shots in the Philippines through this Flickr gallery I created. This gives us a glimpse of what we need to cherish, what we need to protect, what we need to be proud of.

It’s been so long since I last wrote an update here that so many things have happened between now and my last blog post. The country now has a new president (who recently launched his new website – http://president.gov.ph), friends and colleagues have either left the company or moved back to their countries, and recently I relocated back to Singapore.

It’s funny how the last post I wrote was about Jeremiah Owyang’s declaration of “Community Manager Day”, well he is in Manila right now as one of the main speaker’s of IMMAP’s 4th Summit! I never would have imagined 7 months ago that he’ll be in Manila (man, how I wish I had the chance to attend and meet him in person).

Anyway, blogging really takes commitment and there’s no excuse not to have posted an update for the past 7 months. In the words of the wise Yoda, “Try not. Do or do not, there is no try.” The same can definitely be said for blogging. You start a blog, then blog. And there is so much to blog about. Especially since I plan to make some changes in the blog. More about it in succeeding posts.

It’s been weeks since I last updated and thanks to a much better work schedule now, I finally found the time to write again. Going back to blogging started with changing the blog design. The old one was okay but it took more time to update because of images I had to prepare. This new template I discovered is sleek, simple, and super easy to manage. And it’s always inspiring to write when you have a new blog design, hehehe. This is still a work in progress so expect changes in the future.

Not blogging for a while made me realize how important blogging has been to me in so many ways. It’s a surprise for me that until now, my post about my not-so-pleasant experience with Cebu Pacific’s online ticketing service still gets a number of comments. It’s great to know my post has helped people and I intend to blog about it soon, sort of a follow-up to that experience.

Another thing that’s become quite clear to me is that for a blog to be successful, one really has to work on it. It takes time, effort, and a considerable amount of thinking and planning for a blog to reached a certain level of success. And really, there’s no such thing as an overnight success. And right now I’m still currently learning along the way. This quote sort of sums up what I feel should be one’s attitude towards blogging:

Nothing worthwhile comes easily. Work, continuous work and hard work, is the only way to accomplish results that last. – Hamilton Holt

It’s great to start anew, to not remain sidetracked or derailed. Because with all that’s happening in and around me, there’s really much to blog about.
